Earth Green Farm
Aquaponics

Green Earth Farm is designed to raise fish and plants together in a practical, productive and ecologically balanced system. Aquaponics is a creative approach to sustainable agriculture where two industries- aquaculture (farming fish) and hydroponics (growing plants without soil) –  are combined to make one efficient, resource conserving system The high volume production of leafy greens, herbs, fruiting crops, and fish takes place in a recirculating system. Our farms use a fraction of the water compared to traditional agriculture and can grow food continuously year round.

We will be producing our leafy greens and vegetables available for customer to purchase our organically grown produce where they can be delivered weekly to our customers.

Our mission is to empower young individuals, particularly those from underserved urban areas, by providing them with the skills to design and manage their own growing spaces, while also offering educators the training needed to integrate urban agriculture into their curriculums. Through hands-on involvement in community gardens, aquaponics systems, and ag-technology projects, BUFF aims to cultivate ecological awareness, food processing knowledge, and a deeper connection to local food systems among the next generation.

Organic

One of the key advantages of organic aquaponics is its ability to create a self-sufficient and sustainable farming operation. By eliminating the need for synthetic fertilizers and pesticides, organic aquaponics cultivates food that is free from harmful chemicals and promotes healthier ecosystems.

Fish Water

The fish waste (ammonia) is converted to plant food (nitrate) by super helpful bacteria (nitrification!). This way fish get clean water that is filtered by the plants and we don’t have to use any chemical, petroleum based fertilizers to grow our super delicious plants! This recirculating water system uses 90% less water than traditional irrigated agriculture.

Agrivoltaics

In organic aquaponics, emphasis is placed on adhering to organic practices to ensure the production of high-quality, chemical-free produce. This includes using organic fish feed, avoiding the use of synthetic fertilizers and pesticides, and maintaining a balanced ecosystem within the aquaponics system. By adopting organic practices, organic aquaponics fosters the health of plants, fish, and beneficial microorganisms while maintaining the integrity of the environment.
